Every Dubai restaurant owner asks the same question in the first marketing meeting: ‘What should we post on Reels?’ Here's the current list, ranked by how often each format actually converts into DMs, bookings, and delivery-platform taps across the F&B accounts we run. Not what looks nice, what works.
1. The chef-pov one-dish build
60 seconds, kitchen-camera-mounted, zero voiceover. Chef builds one hero plate from first ingredient to final garnish. ASMR audio of the cooking itself. Caption names the dish and tells people how to order it. Highest-converting single Reel format in Dubai F&B right now because it signals craft, not performance.
2. The pass-to-table one-shot
15-20 seconds, one continuous shot that follows a hero dish from the pass out to a specific table in the room. Captures the kitchen energy, the dining-room ambience, and the handoff moment in one unbroken take. Works because it feels like a documentary, not a commercial.
3. The first-bite reaction
10-15 seconds. Camera on a diner's face as they take the first bite of the signature dish. Natural lighting, no setup. The reaction has to be real, not performed. If you can't get a real reaction, skip this format.
4. The ‘ingredient origin’ story
20-30 seconds. Chef or sourcing manager explains where one specific ingredient comes from (fish from Dibba, dates from a specific Al Ain farm, cheese from a specific producer). Builds brand depth and justifies ticket price. Resonates especially strongly with GCC diners.
5. The daypart menu reveal
15-20 seconds. Carousel-style single Reel showing one specific daypart menu (brunch spread, late-night supper, business lunch set). Price shown openly. Specific booking CTA in the first comment pinned by the account.
6. The team cameo
20-30 seconds. One team member (not just the chef) talks for 20 seconds about their favourite dish or their role. Humanises the brand, boosts recruitment, strengthens repeat-visit loyalty.
7. The signature-cocktail or drink build
20-30 seconds. Pour shots, garnish moment, glass fill. For venues with alcohol licensing, UAE advertising rules apply (no price promos, careful imagery). Still one of the strongest Reel formats for upmarket concepts.
8. The sound-trending remix
15 seconds. Food content set to a currently-trending TikTok or Reels audio. Lower craft bar but high reach when the sound is still ascending. Monitor weekly, don't use audio that peaked more than 10 days ago.
9. The guest-takeover
60 seconds. A regular customer, a local creator, or a visiting chef takes over the account for one Reel. Brings their audience to you. Lower control, higher reach.
10. The late-night energy cut
15-20 seconds. Fast cuts of the dining room on Thursday or Friday night, 10-11 pm. No dialogue, just room sound. Signals that the place is alive at the hours delivery platforms can't compete with. Pure atmosphere.
The three formats that stopped working in Dubai
Logo-card intros (nobody waits past them). Boomerangs (feel 2019). ‘Tag a friend who loves pasta’ captions (algorithm sees spam). If you're still shipping these, drop them this week and reallocate the production time to formats 1-3 on this list.
